Councillor Alex Fox helps Celebrate the Opening of Abbots Bromley School Swimming Pool

Following a ten month £500,000 refurbishment programme the indoor swimming pool at Abbots Bromley School for Girls was recently officially opened by Councillor Alex Fox MBE. A lively swimming gala was also held to mark the occasion and a number of competitive races and fun activities were enjoyed by Year 6 pupils.

The school’s pool has benefitted from an extensive refurbishment including a state-of-the-art pool lining, newly extended and refurbished changing facilities and showers and an extensive selection of pool accessories including training aids and games equipment. The pool is heated by solar panels on the roof of the building which provide up to 40% of the energy used to heat the pool.

Councillor Alex Fox said: “Healthy living and exercise are so important in today’s society to avoid unnecessary ill health in later life. To open this splendid swimming pool will mean children of all ages will be taught the value of sport and recreation activities. I was particularly impressed with the School’s outward looking policy, which encourages the use of the pool by outside organisations. Abbots Bromley School goes from strength to strength and parents can be assured of the very best for their children.”
