Three King’s School, Tynemouth Sixth Formers have this year achieved the ultimate academic accolade – they have been offered places on degree courses at the universities of Oxford and Cambridge. Aidan Brierley from Cramlington will read Chemistry at Keeble College Oxford; Leonie James has been offered a place to read Law and European Languages at Clare College Cambridge and Simon Wallace will study Medicine at Queens College Cambridge.
Places at Oxford and Cambridge are hugely oversubscribed and the admission process includes additional tests and very demanding interviews. Mr John Taylor, the King’s School master in charge of Oxbridge applicants, said ‘We are delighted for the three pupils whose academic ability and potential has been accepted by two of the top universities in the world.’
