Ellesmere College

Founded in 1884, Ellesmere College is a 7 to 18 co-educational school in rural North Shropshire. Success at Ellesmere is founded upon high quality classroom education coupled with an exceptionally strong commitment to extra-curricular activities with a view to educating the whole person. Ellesmere deliberately takes a wide range of abilities despite being popular enough to be academically selective.

Ellesmere offers day, weekly and full boarding. Facilities within a five day teaching cycle, with sport and extra-curricular activities at the weekend. Although a Church of England Foundation, the College welcomes pupils of all faiths and nationalities. Outstanding sports facilities with a new Sports Centre, a weight training room, indoor swimming pool, rifle ranges, floodlit all-weather courts, extensive games pitches, Rugby Academy, Tennis Academy and 9 hole golf course, chapel, purpose built Arts Centre, 6th Form Centre and separate Preparatory Department. Extra curricular activities include sailing, canoeing, Combined Cadet Force and Outdoor Training Unit.

Ellesmere College has, in recent years, developed a considerable reputation for innovation. In September 2006 Ellesmere College introduced the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme to run alongside the traditional A levels.
