Abbots Bromley School for Girls
and Roch House Preparatory School

Located in a picturesque village, Abbots Bromley School for Girls [AB] is a flourishing boarding and day school, which offers an exceptionally rounded education for pupils. Originally established in 1875, AB was the very first Woodard School for girls.

In Roch House Preparatory School, we now educate boys and girls from Kindergarten to Year 6. This co-educational part of the school nestles within the main site and offers its own dedicated facilities including an ICT suite, dance studio, science lab and new outdoor play area.

In the Senior School, we offer a girls-only programme from Year 7 to Year 13.

Whilst pupils are expected to work hard and focus carefully on their academic studies, at the same time we want pupils to take advantage of the numerous opportunities available to them on site.

In the Senior School, as well as offering traditional academic subjects to A Level, we also cater for girls who wish to take alternative career routes. They may take a variety of qualifications to a high level in riding, dance and musical theatre without jeopardising any future career plans by being able to study these alongside their core academic subjects.

We are lucky to have our own Equestrian Centre on site, fabulous modern Dance Studio and a newly refurbished Theatre where pupils can display their talents.

The Equestrian Centre boasts superb opportunities for both the beginner and the experienced rider. Pupils may train for British Horse Society (BHS) exams up to Assistant Instructor (AI), Progressive Riding tests, BTEC exams and Pony Club tests and badges. On-site facilities include a floodlit outdoor arena, indoor school and stabling for up to 22 ponies and horses.

Our internationally renowned dance school - The Alkins School of Dance - offers dance and Musical Theatre classes for all levels culminating in a variety of examinations, including BTEC. The Vocational Dance Course allows students to extend their studies to a professional level, unusually alongside an academic programme, thereby allowing them to study for GCSE or A Levels. The highly qualified and experienced staff includes former international ballerinas and a Director of Dance with many years’ experience as an examiner with the Royal Academy of Dance.

We offer excellent sporting facilities, such as our Sports Hall, including a fitness suite, an all-weather hockey pitch and a heated indoor Swimming Pool.

Music features highly within the school and the numerous opportunities are enhanced with an annual overseas Choir Tour, most recently visiting America and Malta.

Our impressive Chapel is a key feature of the school and remains at the heart of all that we do. The Christian ethos and natural surroundings help to make for a secure and happy atmosphere where pupils thrive.

Our friendly Boarding Community caters for a variety of options for girls: full boarding, weekly, flexi and occasional packages are available to suit every parent’s requirements. Boarding is increasingly popular and with careful liaison between the Academic and Pastoral Staff, pupils are supported at all times to ensure that they are settled and successful.

Being a member of the Abbots Bromley School community is like joining an extended family where life-long friendships are forged. Pupils and staff who leave the school are never far away as they may stay in touch with the school through the well-established alumni body – The Guild.

Under the clear direction of the newly appointed Head, the school has embarked on several exciting new projects, including the rebranding of the school, developing a new interactive prospectus and website and determining the future vision of the school.
